The Police Service Commission (PSC) has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force for 2025 has commenced, describing such reports as false, misleading, and the handiwork of fraudsters.

In a press statement released on Sunday and signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at the Commission, the PSC emphasized that it has not initiated any recruitment exercise for the year and warned prospective applicants to disregard such unauthorized publications.

“The Commission has not commenced this exercise and obviously will follow established procedures and processes when it is ready,” the statement read. “It hereby advises prospective candidates to ignore the publications and wait for official communication.”

The PSC expressed deep concern over the recurring trend of fake recruitment notices being circulated each time the Commission prepares to begin legitimate recruitment. It condemned what it described as “a consistent attempt to fraudulently confuse the public.”

Calling on security agencies to clamp down on the perpetrators, the Commission urged immediate action to protect the integrity of its recruitment processes. “The Commission frowns at this consistent attempt to fraudulently confuse the public… relevant security agencies should go after these fraudsters,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the PSC assured Nigerians that all future recruitment activities will strictly adhere to laid-down rules and regulations. It also issued a stern warning to those behind the fraudulent messages, saying they will be identified and prosecuted.

“The fraudsters are warned to stay off the Commission’s programmes as they would be fished out and sanctioned according to law,” Ani concluded.

The public is advised to follow only official PSC channels for accurate updates on police recruitment and other Commission activities.
