The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the welfare of pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in pension management.

Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, made the remarks during a one-day training workshop for pension correspondents and online editors held on Thursday in Abuja.
The training aimed to update journalists on PTAD’s mandate, operations, and future plans, and to equip them for accurate reporting on pension matters.
Odunaiya expressed appreciation for the media’s role in supporting PTAD over the years, noting that responsible reporting has been instrumental in shaping public perception and trust in the pension system.
“Over the years, PTAD has worked assiduously to change the narrative of pension payments in Nigeria, and we are proud to see that our efforts continue to yield positive results,” Odunaiya said.
The training included a detailed overview of the PTAD Act, operational departments, and key functions of the Directorate, giving journalists the knowledge needed to report with context and accuracy.
Odunaiya emphasized that understanding PTAD’s past achievements, current operations, and future plans is essential for responsible journalism.
She described the workshop as an opportunity for participants to learn, re-learn, un-learn, and interact, strengthening the collaboration between PTAD and the media.
The Directorate said the initiative reflects its broader commitment to sustainable pension management, public confidence, and the welfare of all pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme.
