The House of Representatives has issued arrest warrants for the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda, along with two senior officials, Director of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, and the Director of Regional Planning.
Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Mike Etaba, ordered their arrest on Thursday, citing their failure to honor multiple summons over an alleged building code breach in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The committee directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure their appearance on March 28 to explain their roles in the alleged infractions.
Following their absence from hearings on Tuesday and Thursday, Etaba led committee members on an inspection of the disputed site in Guzape.
The on-site engineer admitted to having no approved building plan, raising further concerns.
“We are here to ensure justice is done. The FCDA must provide the necessary documents to determine whether the construction meets legal standards,” Etaba stated.
The controversy stems from a petition filed by Elder Leke Abejide, Chairman of the House Committee on Customs, alleging that construction on Plot AO9399 in Guzape violates FCT building regulations and encroaches on his client’s rights.
The House Committee is now pushing for accountability, demanding that FCDA officials justify their approval processes and uphold urban planning regulations.
