Nigerian rising star Temidola Awosika, popularly known as Modola, delivered a show-stopping performance at the United States Mission Grand Showcase Concert on Thursday, cementing her status as one of the country’s brightest young talents.
The 20-year-old singer lit up the stage with her viral breakout hit “Talk”, sending the packed venue into a frenzy before transitioning seamlessly into her Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping track. Dressed elegantly in a flowing gown, Modola had the audience singing and dancing along throughout her high-energy set.
The concert, presented by American Voices, was a sold-out affair that drew hundreds of fans and notable dignitaries. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, served as chief host, alongside the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Richard M. Mills Jr., who co-hosted the prestigious event.
The star-studded lineup also featured acclaimed acts such as Weedie Braimah, Shenel Johns, Herlin Riley, Made Kuti, Yinka Davies, Jerry Omole, and Timi Dakolo, adding to the night’s cultural vibrancy.
In one of the evening’s highlights, legendary Nigerian flautist Tee Mac introduced Modola to the stage and even joined her in dance as she performed her fan-favourite hit “No Stress”.
Her set showcased the depth of her artistry, blending “Talk” with tracks from her latest EP “New Light”, as fans chanted every lyric.
Earlier this year, “Talk” went viral on TikTok, dominated streaming charts, and earned massive airplay, solidifying Modola’s reputation as a fast-rising star shaping Nigeria’s global music narrative.
