The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has successfully concluded its zonal elections across the six geopolitical zones of the country, marking another decisive step in its ongoing electoral process.

The outcome has produced a fresh set of board representatives who will play a vital role in shaping the administration of rugby in Nigeria.

In the elections, Wuraola Hussaini emerged victorious from the South West, while Onyekachi Ibegbulam will be making his debut on the board as the South East representative.

Emmanuel Godwin secured the mandate for the South South, Salisu Garba was elected from the North East, Aliyu Mohammed triumphed in the North West, and Pius Longman clinched the North Central seat.

These new zonal officials will serve alongside existing representatives, including Azeez Ladipo and Angulu Suleiman (Athletes’ and Technical Representatives), incumbent President Ademola Are of NAPHER-SD, Professor Modupeola Olanrewaju Banjo representing the Association of Former Female Athletes of Nigeria (AFFAN), and a representative of the Nigeria Association for Women in Sports (NAWIS).

With the zonal phase now concluded, attention turns to the highly anticipated Vice Presidential and Presidential elections, scheduled for October 18 in Abuja.

The forthcoming vote is expected to be a watershed moment for the sport, as stakeholders await the leadership that will steer Nigerian rugby into its next phase of growth and global competitiveness.
