The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has lauded the educational morale of the winner of the recently concluded NILDS National quiz competition.
This followed the President of the Senate’s request that the winner be officially presented to him by the Director General NILDS, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman.
Senator Akpabio presented the trophy to the first place winner and the Teachers of the Enitoma High School, Port Harcourt, with a cash rewards of undisclosed amount and extended similar gesture to the runners-up as well as the 3rd position winner.
This signifies the Senate President’s determination to reward excellence for the contestants mastery of knowledge of legislative processes, procedures, and a clear understanding of Democratic governance.
It will be recalled that the keenly competed final of the quiz competition was held on November 11th, during which the Senate president was out of the country, hence his request to formally meet with the winners.
A statement by the Media Adviser to DG NILDS, Muhammad Abdulkadir, reveals that the overall winner of the competition scored 70 points to top the table, while the second position garnered 65 points, and the 3rd had 55 points.
The uncommon visionary and innovative leadership styles of the DG NILDS, as shown in his efforts which culminated into the successful hosting of the quiz, has commendably gone down as a mark of love and support for the children.
No doubt, the short but memorable experience of a lifetime will be a lasting reference for years to come and a record of achievement for the NILDS.
