The Sheroes Cup Pre-Season Tournament 2025 kicked off in thrilling fashion at the Area 3 Football Pitch, Abuja, featuring a blend of grit, goals, and tactical brilliance from some of Nigeria’s finest women’s football teams.
The curtain-raiser of the day saw Remo Stars and Ekiti United play out an entertaining 1–1 draw, setting an exciting tone for the rest of the tournament.
Both sides showed strong attacking intent and solid defensive organization, earning a point apiece after a closely fought battle.
In the second fixture, Confluence Queens dominated from start to finish to secure a convincing 2–0 win over Danaz Ladies.
Striker Adeyemo Ajoke put her side ahead in the 34th minute, finishing a slick move that showcased the team’s fluidity and composure in the final third. Emmanuel Senbe extended the lead in the 50th minute with a clinical effort that left the goalkeeper stranded.
Midfielder Bushiru Hauwa’u was named Player of the Match for her commanding presence, ball distribution, and leadership throughout the game.
The day’s final encounter saw Naija Ratels FC begin their campaign on a high with a 2–0 victory over FCT Ladies.
Owojiri Rachel opened the scoring in the 58th minute after pouncing on a loose ball inside the box, while an own goal in the 88th minute sealed the win for the Ratels.
Goalkeeper Achukwu Janet earned the Player of the Match award for her outstanding saves and excellent coordination from the back, ensuring Naija Ratels maintained a clean sheet.
Tournament organizers praised the quality of play and reaffirmed their commitment to empowering female footballers, promoting inclusivity, and strengthening grassroots participation across the country.
