Speaker Abbas Appoints Ehindero As Chairman NELFUND Committee

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen on Tuesday announced Representative Ifeoluwa Ehindero, as Chairman of it standing committee on Students Loans, Scholarships, Higher Education Financing. Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

The official announcement on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, comes as the House leadership made adjustments to the leadership of its standing committees, appointing new Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons to further enhance legislative efficiency.

Representative Ifeoluwa Ehindero, who represents Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency was before now the deputy chairman House committee on Reformatory Institutions.

Reacting to this development, Representative Ehindero expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the House for the confidence reposed in him.

“I deeply appreciate the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, and the entire leadership of the House for this appointment. It is a privilege to serve in this capacity, and I am fully committed to ensuring that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund fulfills its purpose of making higher education more accessible and affordable for Nigerian students.”

Speaking in a statement by Chief Press Secretary, Blessing James Akeju, Ehindero reiterated “Education as a critical driver of national development.

He said as Chairman of this committee, “I will work diligently with my colleagues, relevant stakeholders, and agencies to ensure that the Education Loan Fund operates efficiently, transparently, and in a way that truly benefits students across the country”.

“We will also engage in necessary legislative oversight to strengthen the framework and implementation of the scheme.”

This appointment is a testament to Representative Ehindero’s unwavering dedication to education and youth development.

His leadership in this role is expected to bring significant progress to Nigeria’s education financing system.
