Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has strongly condemned the attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, where about 25 schoolgirls were abducted by bandits.

Describing the incident as “unfortunate, gruesome and despicable,” Speaker Abbas said the killing of school officials and the kidnapping of innocent students represents a dangerous escalation that must be urgently addressed.

Reports say bandits invaded the school in Danko–Wasagu Local Government Area on Sunday night, whisking the students away.

In a statement on Monday by the Special Adviser on Media, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Abbas lamented the ordeal of the abducted schoolgirls and called for a rapid, coordinated response by security forces to ensure their safe return.

He emphasised that schools must be among the safest spaces in the country, warning that continued attacks on educational institutions carry grave national implications.

The Speaker expressed confidence in the Nigerian Armed Forces, intelligence agencies and other security formations to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

He reaffirmed the determination of the House of Representatives to support all efforts aimed at strengthening national security, adding that the protection, education and welfare of young Nigerians remain top priorities for the parliament.

Speaker Abbas extended heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims and prayed for the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls.
