The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has charged security agencies to immediately rescue worshippers abducted by suspected terrorists in Kaduna State and ensure the arrest of those responsible.

In a statement signed on Thursday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi, Speaker Abbas condemned the attack, describing it as part of a troubling pattern of mass kidnappings in recent times, lamenting that schools and places of worship have increasingly become targets of criminal violence.

While expressing confidence in the ability of the President Bola Tinubu administration to reverse the tide of insecurity, Abbas stressed that addressing the challenge requires collective efforts from all stakeholders to make Nigeria safe for citizens, businesses and investments.

Speaker Abbas also commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for what he described as proactive leadership at a critical period, noting that the state had recorded relative peace since the governor assumed office in May 2023.

He said Governor Sani’s visit to Kurmin Wali community on Wednesday demonstrated a strong commitment to safeguarding lives and property and responding directly to the concerns of affected communities.

The Speaker offered prayers for the safe return of the abducted worshippers to their families and communities, while reiterating the National Assembly’s support for all lawful measures aimed at strengthening security nationwide.
