The competition which runs from October 3 to 5 will witness a Nigerian contingent made up of young and promising athletes who departed Nigeria yesterday and arrived the same day, immediately settling down to business with their first training session.

Led by the Secretary of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation, Taiwo Oriss, the delegation also includes Coach Abiodun Ojomo in charge of technical preparations.

Nigeria’s squad comprises a blend of male and female athletes eager to showcase their talent on the continental stage. The team list includes:

Dorcas Abeng (Female)

Agnes John (Female)

Tofunmi Ibidapo (Female)

Maryam Omodunmola Muhammed (Female)

Funmilayo Demehin (Female)

Aidan Dumuje-Abili (Male)

Timilehin Olaiya (Male)

Goodluck Godwin (Male)

Endurance Olise (Male)

According to federation officials, the athletes are in high spirits and fully motivated to make the country proud.

The early training session in Ghana was aimed at helping the swimmers acclimatize quickly to the competition environment.

The Africa Zone 2 Championship, which brings together elite swimmers from across the West and Central African region, serves as both a test of strength and a developmental platform for upcoming talents.

Nigeria will be banking on the youthful energy and determination of its swimmers to make a strong impact in Ghana, as the team looks to improve on past performances and secure medals for the nation.
