President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, forwarding his name to the Senate for confirmation.
The nomination, announced Tuesday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, fills one of the vacant ministerial slots in the federal cabinet.
Dr. Doro’s nomination follows the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who became the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
Presidency officials confirmed that President Tinubu, during a private meeting with senior aides on Monday evening, discussed his intention to fill two cabinet vacancies, including that of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who resigned a few weeks ago.
Onanuga described Doro’s nomination as part of the President’s ongoing efforts to build “a competent, reform-minded cabinet capable of delivering innovation and results-driven governance.”
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Bernard Doro brings more than 20 years of professional experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community development across Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
“He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA specializing in IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice,” Onanuga stated.
“He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with extensive experience in NHS frontline services, including urgent care, GP practices, and hospital settings,” he added.
Beyond his professional credentials, Doro is recognized for his active role in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives within both the Nigerian diaspora and local communities.
If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will be sworn in and assigned a portfolio at the next meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
