PRESIDENT TINUBU, NORTHERN GOVERNORS’ FORUM, CONDEMNS BORNO TWIN SUICIDE ATTACK AS DEATH TOLL RISES TO 18

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the spate of suicide attacks in
Borno State, which killed 18 people and injured several others. The President described the incident as a “desperate act of a degraded insurgency. A series of blasts, detonated by suspected female suicide bombers, occurred at Gwoza, Borno State, at a wedding ceremony, motor park, and hospital, according to official sources.

President Tinubu, in a response to the attacks via a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, pledged that his administration would redouble efforts to ensure that “those troubling the nation with violence” were “completely removed. The President commiserated with victims of the attacks and their loved ones, as well as the government of Borno State.

The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed deep condolences to the victims, government and people of Borno State following the tragic suicide attacks in Gwoza Local
Government Area. Governor Yahaya, strongly condemned the heinous act, which resulted
in the loss of innocent lives and left many injured, describing it as
cowardly.

The Governor acknowledged the relentless efforts of the Tinubu Administration in combating terrorism and the pressure being mounted against these criminal elements.
He expressed his firm belief that with sustained efforts and cooperation among security agencies, the menace of terrorism would be effectively curtailed.
