Police Commissioner Launches Weapon and Riot Control Training for FCT Officers Democracy Radio

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reinforcement of Operation Savannah Shield as the Federal Government intensifies security operations across Nigeria’s North Central states.
The move follows recent terrorist attacks in Kwara State that left about 75 villagers dead.
The renewed offensive includes the deployment of military forces, the Nigeria Police Force, and national forest guard units, supported by improved intelligence gathering and rapid-response systems.
President Tinubu condemned the attacks as beastly and heartless, directing security agencies to bring the full weight of the State against those threatening peace and safety.
The statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says the operations fall under the expanded security mandate issued after the President declared a state of emergency on national security.
Security has also been strengthened in vulnerable communities and around places of worship. Authorities say there will be increased visible security presence, particularly around churches, in coordination with local leaders and faith-based groups.
In addition, the Police have redeployed officers previously assigned to VIP escort duties back to core community policing roles. The redeployment covers Kwara, Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger states, and the Federal Capital Territory.
President Tinubu reiterated that Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts remain Nigerian-led, while welcoming intelligence and technical cooperation from international partners where it aligns with national interest.
