The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has unveiled plans for a major project inspection and commissioning ceremony set to kick off on June 10.

In a show of high-level support, the ceremony will feature the presence of top government figures, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, underscoring the significance of the projects to national growth and infrastructure

The event promises to spotlight transformative developments across the capital.

Wike disclosed that President Tinubu will flag off the commissioning exercise with the inauguration of the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.

Also other 17 projects across the territory will be commissioned over a 10-day period, a development the Minister described as “unprecedented in the history of Abuja.”

According to Wike, the President will personally commission 10 projects, while the Vice President will handle three, the Senate President two, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives another two.

“Mr. President has graciously agreed to commission one of the projects in the satellite towns. The Vice President and Senate President will also commission projects. For the first time, the people in satellite towns will feel the presence and impact of federal leadership,” Wike stated.

The commissioning itinerary begins June 10 at the ICC, followed by the commissioning of the road corridor from the Gili Sea area interchange to Jahi, Maitama, and Mabushi on June 11.

Wike emphasized that the initiative reflects strong collaboration between the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary, noting that this synergy is vital for sustainable development in the FCT.

“The legislature is giving us very good support. When we present a budget, we mean it — not just for formality. This support has enabled us to execute impactful projects,” he said.

He further noted that the ceremony would allow legislators and other government officials to witness firsthand the projects they have supported through budget approvals.

Highlighting the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Wike said residents of Abuja, especially those in underserved satellite communities, are beginning to experience improved infrastructure and services. He cited visible joy among children and families as evidence of tangible change.

The Minister also revealed that the ICC’s maintenance will be overseen directly by his office in partnership with construction firm Julius Berger, ensuring sustained upkeep and management of the iconic facility.

On the forthcoming Sallah celebrations, Wike expressed hope for a peaceful holiday and called for unity among Nigerians, urging citizens to continue supporting government efforts to advance national development.
