Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will defeat opposition figures Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, even if the two join forces.
Fayose made the claim on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, September 15, arguing that an alliance between Atiku and Obi would not be enough to prevent Tinubu’s victory.
He said the opposition would face an even greater challenge if the two politicians contested separately, as their votes could be divided.
“Even if they come together, this man will still defeat them,” Fayose said.
The former governor also claimed that the South-West could give Tinubu a vote margin of between five and six million, questioning the level of support Atiku and Obi could secure in Ekiti, Osun and Ondo states.
Fayose further projected that Tinubu would secure more than 12 million votes in the election. He also argued that manipulating election results had become increasingly difficult.
On the issue of power rotation, Fayose described Tinubu as the “shortest point” for power to return to the North, arguing that the South should complete an eight-year presidential tenure before power shifts back to the region.
Fayose also attributed his confidence in Tinubu’s prospects to what he described as improvements in the Nigerian economy and road infrastructure under the current administration, while acknowledging that some Nigerians may disagree with his assessment.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions among opposition politicians over possible alliances and strategies ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
