Troops of the North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), supported by airstrikes from the Air Component and local security outfits, has conducted a series of coordinated operations between 23 and 30 August 2025, recording significant operational gains.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the offensive covered key areas across Borno and Yobe States.

These included Gujba, Gubio, Sabsawa, Whumtakum in Chibok Local Government Area (LGA), Mandarari in Konduga LGA, Gajigana in Magumeri LGA, as well as Konduga, Banki, and Loskori Kura in Mafa LGA.

During the operations, troops successfully neutralized more than 20 fighters affiliated with the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād (JAS) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist factions. In addition, several logistics suppliers and collaborators linked to the terrorist groups were arrested, disrupting critical supply chains.

The troops also recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including several AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) tubes and bombs, and a large quantity of 7.62mm ammunition.

Additional items recovered included logistics materials believed to be used by terrorists. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams safely detonated several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) encountered during the operations.

Significantly, 242 bags of NPK fertilizer—commonly used in the production of IEDs—were intercepted, preventing them from reaching insurgent hands.

Military authorities noted that the week-long offensive has continued to deny terrorists freedom of movement and operational space, thereby enabling safer conditions for civil and economic activities to resume across the region.

The military high command has commended the troops for their resilience, tactical discipline, and operational effectiveness. It further reaffirmed its commitment to providing the necessary support to sustain the momentum in the fight against insurgency until lasting peace and stability are restored in the North East.
