UniPort Governing Council Visits Wike, Seeks Support for Key Projects

The Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his contributions to the institution and national development.

During a courtesy visit to Wike at his official residence in Abuja, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, lauded the Minister’s support for UniPort, including the establishment of the Faculty of Law and the construction of the Convocation Arena.

The Council proposed the creation of a Centre for Leadership Studies in the FCT, sought assistance in equipping the Convocation Arena with multimedia facilities, and requested infrastructural support, including a Council Chamber.

Responding, Wike reaffirmed his commitment to the university, pledged land allocation for the proposed Centre, and emphasised the role of alumni in supporting their alma mater.

He urged the governing council to uphold excellence above ethnic and political differences.
