A Non-Governmental Organization, Women for Peace, Security, and Social Inclusion Initiative, says the women’s sensitization program and rally held on Saturday by over 4,000 women was to amplify the call for a peaceful protest.

The founder of the NGO and wife of the late MKO Abiola, Tinu Alade Abiola, was reacting to a viral video featuring some women criticizing the initiative for not honoring commitments made to them regarding their participation in the rally.

A statement by Mrs Abiola, clarifies that the sensitization program was aimed at educating women on the need toguide their children away from violence as the concerns voiced by the women in the viral video misrepresents the situation.

Mrs. Abiola assured that steps were being taken to address all concerns of the women as indicated in the forms they filled out during the program.

She disclosed that they avoided giving money to the women at the rally to avoid stampedes or other distribution-related problems during large gatherings, assuring the women that all their demands would be met.

The founder expressed her dismay at seeing some women resort to baseless accusations that could tarnish the image of the NGO, which is dedicated to improving the conditions of women in Nigeria.

Mrs. Abiola emphasized that the organization prioritizes the welfare of Nigerian women and will continue to strive to ensure they receive the attention they deserve.
