The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called for an amendment of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Act to include the Nigerian Law School in its intervention programs. Speaking during the inauguration of 10-unit staff housing quarters for the Nigerian Law School in Abuja on Monday, Wike highlighted the institution’s vital role in developing the legal profession. He also handed over seven operational vehicles to enhance the school’s efficiency and announced plans to build 200-bed hostels for male and female students, which will be captured in the FCTA’s 2025 budget.

Wike emphasized that the existing hostels are inadequate for professional training and urged for increased budgetary allocations to the law school to support its infrastructural needs. He credited President Bola Tinubu for supporting these initiatives, adding, “This is a professional training school, and we will give all the necessary support to ensure it benefits from special intervention funds.”

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, commended Wike’s commitment to the judiciary, describing him as “Mr. Project.” The Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Prof. Isah Chiroma, lauded Wike for fulfilling his promise of infrastructural support, while Acting Executive Secretary Richard Dauda confirmed that the housing quarters would include fully furnished four-bedroom bungalows, to be completed in nine months.
