The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of infrastructure development in the territory, citing significant milestones achieved in recent months.

Speaking on Monday after inspecting several ongoing projects, including a flyover bridge at Nicon Junction, the construction of Justices’ Quarters in Katampe District, and various access roads, Wike commended the contractors’ efforts and the federal government’s support.

“The public is the ultimate judge of my performance in the FCT. However, I am impressed with the work done by the contractors so far and grateful for the opportunity given by President Bola Tinubu to restore hope to Nigerians,” Wike said.

The minister also addressed concerns regarding compensation for property owners affected by road construction projects, emphasizing that due process would be followed.

“I am not part of the Compensation Department; my role is to review the valuation once their work is submitted. Compensation will be based on the extent of impact—whether partial or full,” he explained.

Wike clarified that compensation would not cover entire communities unless the road construction affects every property within the area.

He urged residents to support the projects, highlighting the long-term benefits such as improved road access and street lighting.

“I appeal to the community to cooperate fully, as these projects are for their benefit.

The transformation is evident even now, and once completed, these developments will enhance their quality of life,” Wike said.

The minister also commended the pace of work on the projects, attributing the rapid progress to his administration’s proactive approach to development.

“We have a Presidential Monitoring Team assessing our deliverables. So far, I am satisfied with the government’s efforts in transforming our city,” Wike added.

He however, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the timely completion of all projects while emphasizing the importance of community support to achieve these objectives.
