The President of the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU), Mahmud Hadejia, has congratulated Deo Mutabazi on his recent appointment as a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
Mutabazi, who currently serves as ABSU’s First Vice President and also chairs the Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA), was officially named to the FUFA Executive Committee by President Moses Magogo during the 101st FUFA Ordinary General Assembly held on July 5, 2025, at the Hoima Resort Hotel in Hoima. He will serve a four-year term through to 2029.
In a congratulatory letter also addressed to the FUFA President, Hadejia described the appointment as a significant and historic milestone for beach soccer in Africa.

“We take immense pride in celebrating Mr. Deo Mutabazi, a central figure in the growth of beach soccer across the continent. His appointment to the FUFA Executive Committee is not only a personal achievement but a landmark moment for the entire African beach soccer community,” Hadejia stated.
He also praised Mutabazi’s leadership, noting that his wealth of experience and vision would positively impact FUFA.

“Mr. Mutabazi has previously served as Chairman of the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel and has led various development initiatives to expand beach soccer in East Africa. His efforts have introduced the sport to countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and more recently, Somalia,” Hadejia noted.
“These initiatives perfectly align with ABSU’s mission to cultivate a vibrant and sustainable beach soccer culture across Africa, promoting growth through collaborative development. Mr. Mutabazi has been at the forefront of this vision,” he added.
Hadejia expressed confidence that Mutabazi’s new role on the FUFA Executive Committee will further strengthen the federation and support ABSU’s broader objectives.
