The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has officially unveiled a strategic and restructured blueprint for the 2025 Anambra State Football League, underscoring a renewed commitment to grassroots football development across the state.
In a statement issued by ANSFA Secretary, Ralph Nweke, the Association confirmed that preparations are already in advanced stages for what is projected to be a transformative season in the league’s history.
Preliminary Knockout Round to Welcome New Entrants
A major innovation introduced for the 2025 season is the commencement of a Preliminary Knockout Round. This stage is specifically designed to integrate emerging community clubs and football academies into the league ecosystem.
All matches in the preliminary phase will be conducted on neutral venues to ensure competitive equity and broad participation. Teams that emerge successful in this stage will qualify for the Main League Draw Ceremony, which will determine their group placements for the main campaign.
To formally launch the 2025 season, ANSFA has scheduled a Grand Opening Ceremony to be held at the Awka City Stadium:
Date: Sunday, August 24, 2025
Venue: Awka City Stadium
Time: 12:00 PM Prompt
Attendance is mandatory for all registered clubs—whether participating in the main league or the preliminary stage. The ceremony will also feature the unveiling of sponsors and strategic partners, while serving as a convergence point for key stakeholders in Anambra’s football ecosystem.
ANSFA has officially opened registration for interested teams with the following fee structure:
Community Teams: ₦50,000 (Registration only)
Football Academies: ₦150,000 (Registration & Affiliation)
Registration forms are available at the ANSFA Secretariat (Football House, Awka) and can also be accessed online. The Association emphasized that all payments are non-refundable, and encouraged early registration to avoid last-minute congestion. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, July 31, 2025.
ANSFA confirmed that the full list of rules and regulations, along with match fixtures for both the preliminary and main league phases, will be released shortly after the draw ceremony.
“The Anambra State FA remains steadfast in its vision to build sustainable platforms where grassroots talent can be nurtured and exposed to broader opportunities,” the statement concluded.
For further inquiries, interested teams and stakeholders are advised to contact ANSFA via 0803 549 7968.
With this comprehensive rollout, anticipation continues to build across the state, as football enthusiasts gear up for what many expect to be the most inclusive, competitive, and professionally organized season in the history of the Anambra State Football League.
