The second day of the 2025 National Division I Volleyball League delivered an action-packed spectacle on Wednesday, August 14, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, as top contenders in both the men’s and women’s categories showcased skill, resilience, and competitive flair. Fans were treated to intense rallies and close-set battles, underscoring the fierce race for early dominance in the league.

In the women’s division, Bayonet Spikers narrowly edged Ekiti Queens 2-0 (25-23, 25-23) in a nail-biting opener, while Fire Service Spikers overpowered Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) 2-0 (25-14, 25-17) with clinical finishing. Sokoto Caliphate stunned Safety Queens 2-0 (25-17, 25-21), and NetForce saw off Plateau Queens 2-0 (25-19, 25-22) in a disciplined display. Vipers also dispatched Excelsior 2-0 (25-22, 25-15), while Adamawa Spikers battled back from a set down to defeat Bayelsa Queens 2-1 (24-26, 25-14, 15-9). In the evening fixtures, Vipers dominated NIS 2-0 (25-9, 25-13), before Sokoto Caliphate capped the day with a 2-1 (25-23, 20-25, 15-9) victory over Fire Service Spikers in a pulsating encounter.

The men’s division featured equally competitive clashes. Spartans overcame Safety Spikers in straight sets (25-21, 25-22), while Defence Spikers outlasted Sword VC 2-1 (25-20, 19-25, 15-11) in a match defined by power serves and defensive grit. Life Camp VC edged a tight first set before defeating Kwara United 2-0 (26-24, 25-18), and Wikki Spikers displayed consistency to record a 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) win over Nigeria Immigration Service.

With Day 2 concluded, the league has already produced upsets, tight finishes, and early statements of intent from several teams. Action continues today as the race towards the playoffs intensifies, with fans anticipating more thrilling volleyball battles in Abuja.

Day Three of the 2025 National Division I Volleyball League will see Life Camp VC take on Defence Spikers in the men’s morning session, while Nigeria Immigration Service face Safety Spikers. Kwara United will battle Wikki Spikers, Sword VC meet G-Ranks, and Ajase Ipo go up against Katsina.

 

In the afternoon session, Life Camp VC return to court against Nigeria Immigration Service, Defence Spikers play Kwara United, and Wikki Spikers clash with Safety Spikers. G-Ranks will square off against Adamawa Spartans, while Ajase Ipo conclude the day’s schedule with a match against Nigeria Immigration Service.
