Engineer Nimrod Champions Family Fitness, Unity at Hoba Novelty Sports

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod, has stressed the importance of fitness and family bonding as vital components of a healthy society.

He made the remark on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association (HDA) Abuja Chapter’s Novelty Sports, held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Nimrod commended the Hoba community for sustaining the annual initiative, which he described as a model for promoting physical wellness, family cohesion, and community harmony.

“It brings children and parents together—everybody gets to know each other. You see, there are a lot of cases of slumping nowadays, but when you inculcate the idea of exercise, it helps improve the health of both children and their parents,” he said.

The Hoba Novelty Sports is an annual community-driven event that provides families with a relaxed platform to interact, unwind, and strengthen their relationships through sports.

This year’s edition featured volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics, attracting participants of all ages who came out in large numbers to play and relieve stress from their daily routines.

In his remarks, the Stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community in Abuja, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, said the event is a symbol of unity and social cohesion within the community.

“It’s something we do every year to bring people together in a show of unity and togetherness, while also promoting fitness. Sports is part of our lifestyle,” Naandeti said.

Engineer Nimrod praised the Hoba community for demonstrating how sports can bridge generational gaps, foster healthy living, and inspire a culture of collective wellness.

He called on other communities across Nigeria to adopt similar initiatives that encourage fitness, friendship, and family values.

The lively atmosphere at the Moshood Abiola Stadium reflected the spirit of joy, togetherness, and renewal that has become synonymous with the Hoba Development Association’s annual sports celebration.
