VIP Spikers Volleyball Club of Abuja have emerged champions of the 2025 National Division One Volleyball League (Women’s Category) after completing an unbeaten run that underscored their dominance throughout the season.
The Abuja-based side stamped their authority on the court in both phases of the league, culminating in a flawless performance in Abia, where they lifted the trophy on Saturday.
The Vipers won all 20 matches, amassing an impressive 59 points, to secure automatic promotion to the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League.
Their incredible campaign also produced a haul of individual honours, with Precious Nwadiogor named Best Middle Blocker, Gift Iwobi clinching Best Attacker, and Precious Terseer earning the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Team Manager Abiodun Suraj hailed the team’s discipline, determination, and consistency, describing the title as a fitting reward for their tireless effort.
“The players have been exceptional from start to finish, showing real character, discipline, and hunger to win every single match,” Suraj said. “This title is a reward for their hard work and the dedication of our coaching crew.”
Suraj also praised the leadership of team captain Chilota Marvellous, and commended the coaching duo of Franscica Ikhiede — a multiple national champion — and John Pada for steering the team to history.
He attributed the team’s success to their philosophy of nurturing young talents while leveraging the experience of seasoned players.
“Our strategy was to combine youthful energy with experience. We believe in investing in young players and providing them a platform to grow — and that balance paid off perfectly,” he added.
In a colourful celebration, Suraj and the players appeared in traditional Adire attire, which he said was a deliberate effort to promote Nigerian culture and project a positive image of the country.
