Royal Boys FC emerged victorious in the 2025 John Mononia Foundation Charity Cup Tournament, defeating Market Square FC 2–0 in a thrilling final on Sunday, November 23, at Jikwoyi Community Central Stadium, FCT-Abuja. The event drew a lively crowd celebrating football, community, and charitable giving.
The tournament, which began on October 5, featured 20 teams from Jikwoyi, Karu, Kpeyegyi, Kurudu, and Orozo, all competing to give back to society while promoting youth development through sport. Royal Boys FC took home the championship trophy, ₦500,000 cash prize, and a brand-new set of jerseys. Runners-up Market Square FC received ₦300,000, while Marshall FC, in third place, earned ₦200,000. Semi-finalists were also awarded jerseys to encourage continued participation.

The tournament also highlighted individual achievements:
• Player of the Tournament: Innocent Godwin (Royal Boys FC)
• Best Goalkeeper: Aguye Ahmed (Royal Boys FC)
• Highest Goal Scorer: Joseph Clement (Marshall FC)
• Scholarship Award: Mustapha Ahmed (Market Square FC)
• Coach of the Tournament: Danjuma Yusuf (Royal Boys FC)
• Best LOC Official: Thompson Ochelle
Foundation’s Vision: Football for Community and Compassion
Captain Mack Agbatutu, CEO of the John Mononia Foundation, emphasized that the tournament extends beyond football. It serves as a platform to support widows, orphans, and vulnerable families, while instilling discipline, teamwork, leadership, and empathy in young people.
Ahead of the tournament, Captain Agbatutu paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Rev. Dr. Bawa S. Jetta, Gaba Yakwo, MACHI I, ESU JIKWOYI Kingdom, receiving royal blessings for a successful competition.
With the 2025 edition concluded, the John Mononia Foundation continues its mission to foster community cohesion, youth empowerment, and a culture of generosity, using football as a unifying force for progress.
