Police Commissioner Launches Weapon and Riot Control Training for FCT Officers Democracy Radio
By Mustapha Musa
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transparency, institutional reform, and improving the ease of doing business, describing inter-agency collaboration as crucial to the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Idris stated this while receiving the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Magaji, SAN, who paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry ahead of the Commission’s 35th anniversary celebration (CAC@35).
According to a statement by the Minister’s Special Assistant (Media), Rabiu Ibrahim, Idris commends the CAC for its “remarkable institutional reforms” that have repositioned the Commission as a key driver of Nigeria’s business environment and economic credibility.
He noted that the Commission’s transformation through technology and digitization aligns with the Federal Government’s broader reform agenda, especially in strengthening corporate governance, improving investor confidence, and enhancing the ease of doing business.
The Minister also lauded CAC’s role in Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, describing it as a major milestone that reflects growing global confidence in the country’s regulatory and transparency framework.
He added that several gains recorded under the Tinubu administration—rising foreign reserves, easing inflation, improved investor sentiment, and economic stabilisation—cannot be fully appreciated without acknowledging the impact of reform-focused institutions such as the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Idris encouraged the Commission to deepen public engagement so that Nigerians can better understand its innovations, digital services, and achievements.
He assured the Registrar-General of the Ministry’s support in amplifying CAC’s programmes through strategic communication and public enlightenment.
Earlier, the CAC Registrar-General said the visit was to formally invite the Minister to the Commission’s 35th anniversary and to present a scorecard of reforms achieved under the current administration.
Magaji explained that the Commission has transformed from a manual, location-bound registry into a fully digital, technology-driven institution, now offering more than 100 online services—up from 33.
He highlighted the deployment of artificial intelligence for business name reservation and registration as well as the introduction of API services for banks, embassies, security agencies, and other partners.
He further noted the successful operationalisation of the Beneficial Ownership Register, which has strengthened transparency, boosted investor confidence, and positioned Nigeria as a global reference for corporate disclosure.
Magaji added that CAC’s reforms have integrated over four million informal businesses into the tax system, enhanced security through the registration of POS operators, and supported SMEs through free business registrations in collaboration with partner agencies.
He also announced an upcoming partnership with Google to strengthen the Commission’s digital infrastructure and the launch of an AI-powered public support platform to guide users on corporate and regulatory issues.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam; Director, National Archives, Dr. Evelyn Odigboh; Director, Public Relations and Protocol, Dr. Haruna Suleiman; and the Minister’s Special Assistant (Administration), Dr. Sunday Baba.
