Former member of the House of Representatives, Dachung Bagos, has won the All Progressives Congress rerun primary for the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in Plateau State.
Bagos defeated Esther Simi Dusu in the rerun election conducted across 11 wards on Wednesday following a court order.
The High Court in Jos had nullified the previous primary over alleged irregularities in 11 wards: Du, Shen, Zawan ‘B’, Turu, Fobur ‘A’, Fobur ‘B’, Jarawan Kogi, Maijuju/Doss, Federe, Shere East and Shere West.
Announcing the results at the APC state secretariat, Kalwa House, Jos, on Thursday, the Chairman of the Rerun Electoral Committee, Simon Elisha, said Bagos secured 12,181 votes, while Dusu polled 2,495 votes.
Elisha said the committee conducted the rerun in compliance with the court order and the party’s guidelines to ensure transparency and fairness.
With the victory, Bagos is set to represent the APC in the 2027 general election for the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency seat.
