President Bola Tinubu has departed Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for Abuja after completing his Umrah pilgrimage in the holy city of Makkah.
The President’s aircraft took off from the Royal Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport at exactly 5:13 pm Saudi time on Wednesday.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement, adding that the Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yakubu Gambo, and Consul-General Muazam Ibrahim Nayaya, accompanied Tinubu to the airport.
Before his departure, the President held a brief meeting with the Deputy Governor at the Royal Guest Palace within the airport complex.
Tinubu’s visit to Saudi Arabia began last Thursday and featured several spiritual engagements, including the performance of Umrah rites with members of his delegation.
The President and his delegation performed the Tawaf, the circumambulation of the Holy Ka’abah at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah.
A major highlight of the visit occurred on Sunday when Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud granted Tinubu permission to enter the interior of the Holy Ka’abah, where he and members of his delegation performed two units of prayer (raka’at).
